Hi All!
Weekend summary...Had my 3 adult children, 5 grandchildren over on thursday eve...I put my tree up, put some lights on then let the grandkids decorate it...had a few broken ornaments but they had a ball! My grandkids range in age from 2-6 so they only were able to reach so high on the tree...I think I'm going to leave it that way cuz I can picture in my mind each of them reaching and bending to place each ornament on...got up at 3 on friday to shop till 8am then back to bed. Went to the opening of our "Rotary Lights"..the rotary club in town decorates our big park along the river with millions of Christmas lights and people can drive thru or walk thru...they even have a live Nativity Scene with sheep and donkey and carollers singing. Went with my dtr, sil and 3 grandchildren...they loved it. Sat, spent the day resting, cleaning. My dtr and her family left to drive back to VA early. My son just left moments ago to head back to Southern Indiana to school with his fiance. He took a couple pics of me and I'm going to try to get an avatar started...yeah. Woke this AM to snow....supposed to get 3 inches...white all over outside...not good day for travellers. My grandkids would've loved it but left day too early. Tomorrow back to work.

What a great idea with the grands...  Each  year I buy the kids a Hallmark Keepsake ornament.  They get the ornament wrapped and can unwrap and put it on their tree when they decorate.  I love doing this.  The oldest is 20 so she gets a different type ornament.  Due to the cost ..etc I stopped at age 18.  After that they get a decoration ... I would love to have them here to help decorate the tree.

I was soooo surprised to see the Christmas lights out last night.  It was perfect  weather for it;  warm all day.  I'll have to go back out and take a look again.

Have a fun Holiday Season

Hi Margaret and all,

Just got back from taking my son to the airport, back to Seattle.

Had the big Thanksgiving dinner, 14 people. Went pretty well.

Day after is our traditional day to decorate the house inside and out. This time though I told Tom lets just do the tree, He loves all the decor so Friday am he gets up and starts decorating the outside of the house. He tells me he will do it all and I am to just take it easy. I have to go to work anyway ( I was supposed to go in later with no pay for the hours I took off) but anyway...I am getting out of the shower and hear Beth yelling MOM, TOM's HURT! So I go down and he is laying/sitting on the steps and says he fell off of the ladder on his back. He has already walked into the house and won't let me call 911. He walks very slowly and painfully to the car and I take him to the ER. The ER on the day after a holiday is CRAZY! But he is triaged and gets in soon. They cut off his clothes and lay him flat. Give him daloted (sp) and then do CAT scan. Several hours later the Dr comes in and is very excited and almost giddy saying that he is shocked that Tom has not broken his back that he had been very nervous of serious damage and that Tom will be VERY SORE for a long while but OK!!!! Yay!!!! He fell about 6 ft off the ladder, flipped over and landed hard on the back between his shoulder blades with his legs jackknifed over his head (he says in a Pike position) all his weight on the part he landed on. He is 6'3" and 230lbs. So we are so very lucky!
Not trying to scare anyone but now Tom says he will never go on the ladder without me or someone holding it. He fell so hard he broke the whole railing in the front completely. Thought he was secure but it slipped. He thought he had his cell to call us but didn't, He should of laid there and not moved...he was lucky....
Anyway...that was our holiday...no more decorations up yet and bedroom won't be finished for a while. That's OK. I am just glad he is not seriously hurt.

Hope our Sunday is peaceful. Just have to take Beth back to school.

Glad your sweet doggy is better Margaret...
Hope things are on a more even keel for you today Margo...

Take care all,
Cheryl

OH Cheryl,  How scary that is.  Tom is very lucky indeed.  Decorations and the room can wait for sure.  What a way to start the holidays.  A good reminder for all of us.  Take care...  Millie

Millie,
Yep, it was very scary. We were so very lucky. The doc said he couldn't believe he didn't break anything. we didn't even realize all the damage to the porch till last night.

Thanks, Margo,

I think we dodged a giant bullet. I wanted to smack him when he walked into the house...I would have called 911 and made him stay still! The doc said he was really nervous that he had broken his back, even with him able to walk...he is doing really well today...but I have to watch him every sec so he doesn't lift something or fix something that is too heavy...MEN!!!.....

Prayers and hugs back at you, Margo.

Thanks, Susan

My stomach does a flip when I think what could of been...

Makes me ill......

I am keeping my eye on him and now I think he doesn't think I'm just a "worrier."
In the past this man has taken his ladder, put it in the back of a pickup truck to reach the third story to paint our house!!!! He will NEVER do that again and he says I (me) will hold the ladder next time AND he will take his cell outside and in the garage when he is doing his carpentry stuff!

I love em but he thinks he is unbreakable!
